Gallery Artchill is not your typical art space. Located in the West Wing of the legendary 16th-century Amber Fort, it acts as a bridge between Rajasthan’s royal past and India’s bold contemporary future. Founded in 1994 by Sangeeta Juneja, it has grown into one of India’s most prestigious private art galleries, showcasing a curated mix of established masters and emerging voices.

🎨 Why Visit Gallery Artchill?
1. The Heritage Setting
Walking through the gallery feels like a journey through time. The modern paintings and avant-garde sculptures are set against rugged stone walls and historic arches, creating a striking visual contrast that you won’t find in a standard city gallery.
2. The 3D Art Revolution
Artchill is famous for pioneering 3D contemporary art in India. It famously released Mellifluence, the world’s first 3D art book. Keep an eye out for works by Akash Choyal, whose “Triographs” and holographic-style paintings challenge your depth perception and are a favorite for photography.
3. World-Class Collection
The gallery’s ten departments house everything from:
Modern Masters: Works by iconic artists like Arpana Caur and Jatin Das.
Multimedia Exhibits: Video art, graphics, and unique contemporary miniatures.
Art-Furniture: Functional pieces of art that blur the line between decor and sculpture.
🌟 2026 Cultural Highlights
Jaipur Art Week (Jan 27 – Feb 3, 2026): If you are visiting in early 2026, Gallery Artchill serves as a key partner and venue for Jaipur Art Week, hosting international exchange programs and site-specific installations.

Anokhi Museum of Block Printing: A 10-minute walk from the fort exit, dedicated to traditional Rajasthani textiles.
🚗 How to Reach & Traveler Tips
The Route: Most visitors arrive via a jeep ride or elephant safari to the main courtyard of Amber Fort. Follow the signs toward the West Wing exit to find the gallery.
Avoid the Heat: While the gallery is indoors and cooler than the open ramparts, the walk up to the fort is intense. Visit before 11:00 AM or after 4:00 PM for the best experience.
Photography: While photos are generally allowed, always ask the staff before filming specific high-value artworks.

This “Art & Architecture” Walking Map is designed to take you from the vibrant, 300-year-old traditional frescoes of the royal courtyards to the avant-garde 3D masterpieces of Gallery Artchill. It’s a route that bridges the gap between the “Old” and “New” world of Jaipur’s creative spirit.
🗺️ The “Amber Art Trail” Walking Map
Stop 1: The Gateway of Frescoes (Ganesh Pol)
The Landmark: After entering through the main Sun Gate (Suraj Pol) and crossing the first courtyard (Jaleb Chowk), head up the main stairs to the second level.
What to see: Look up at the Ganesh Pol. This 1621 AD gateway is covered in vibrant vegetable-dye frescoes. The intricate floral motifs and the miniature painting of Lord Ganesha are masterpieces of the Mughal-Rajput style.
Stop 2: The Hall of Public Mirrors (Diwan-e-Aam)
The Landmark: Directly in front of Ganesh Pol.
What to see: Look at the ceiling and pillars. Notice the “Magic Flower” carved in marble—it contains seven distinct images (fish tail, lotus, elephant trunk, etc.) depending on how you cover the parts with your hands.
Stop 3: The Hall of Private Audience (Sheesh Mahal)
The Landmark: Pass through Ganesh Pol into the third courtyard.
What to see: This is the pinnacle of “old” art. The walls are encrusted with thousands of convex glass pieces that glitter like stars under candlelight. The inlay work (Pietra Dura) here is some of the finest in India.
Stop 4: The Transition to Modernity (West Wing Path)
The Route: From the Sheesh Mahal, instead of heading deeper into the Zenana (Women’s Quarters), follow the signs toward the West Wing or the “Jaigarh Tunnel” entrance.
The Experience: The crowds usually thin out here. The architecture becomes more rugged and fortress-like, preparing you for the industrial-chic vibe of the contemporary gallery.
Stop 5: The “New” World (Gallery Artchill)
The Landmark: Located near the exit/West Wing ramparts.
What to see: Enter the cool, vaulted chambers of the gallery. Here, the traditional frescoes you just saw are replaced by Akash Choyal’s 3D Triographs and modern Indian sculptures.

💡 Pro-Traveler Tips for the Trail
Follow the Exit Signs: Many people miss the gallery because it is tucked away in the West Wing near the fort’s back exit. If you feel like you are walking away from the “main” palace, you are likely on the right track.
Look for the Tunnel: The gallery is located very close to the entrance of the recently opened Amber-Jaigarh Underground Tunnel.
The “Reverse” Entrance: If you are arriving at Amber Fort by car at the back entrance (Chand Pol), you will actually be closer to Gallery Artchill than those arriving via elephant or the main Sun Gate.
